Data Platform and Portal
A platform to aggregate data across dozens of products and a portal to find, understand and explore data.
Problem Space
Executives often did not trust the accuracy of sales and financial reports.
Misuse of data caused confusion and distrust.
Reporting processes failed monthly, frustrating leaders.
Only data from a few systems could be combined for understanding.
Lacked visibility of customer engagement across products.
Unable to use customer data to improve experiences and drive sales.
How I contributed
Hired data engineering and science leaders. Hired Data engineers and data scientists.
Hired analytics engineering and marketing technology leaders and engineers.
Defined Web analytics and Marketing technology objectives and roadmaps.
Led definition of vision, tech stack, and architecture.
Defined learning curriculum and CICD and SDLC processes for the organization.
Defined learning curriculum for Amazon web services and Terraform.
Led team through delivery and risk management.
Hypothesis’s
If we create a searchable and scalable place for data definitions, analysts will reference them when creating dashboards, and report confusion will decrease.
If we aggregate data from transactions and web activity and link them, we can gain insights to improve sales.
Trust will improve if we build testing into our extraction process and can catch data issues before executives do.
If we improve our tech stack and extract data every hour, we can ensure daily reporting is available.
Results
Created a new organization and proprietary data platform.
This team enabled a $9M insurance partnership.
The team delivered a retention model improving retention by $700k annually.
Deduplicated 7M customer records to enable better communication and marketing. Improved CTR by 5% in key remarketing campaigns.
I discovered that media and page metadata tagging would be required to build a customer graph to gain insights into their browsing trends.
